DAILY TIPS!!!

Concealer is one of the main key ingredients for a clean, fresh face.  Choose a shade of concealer that is one shade light than your normal color. Apply the concealer to blemishes and discoloration,  most importantly apply under your eyes, this will brighten up and open your whole face.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FOUNDATION!!

How To Choose The Right Foundation

foundation_how-to_beauty_tips.jpg
Finding the perfect foundation can be an epic quest and one that doesn't always have a happy ending. Our drawers are full of foundations that seemed right for us but turned out to be all wrong. Choosing your ideal face makeup means making choices on everything from the coverage you need to the type of benefits you want--don't even get us started on finding the right foundation shade. It can all get a bit overwhelming, so we went to a pro--Giorgio Armani BeautyNational Creative Director Tim Quinn--to find out how you can ensure you buy the right foundation for you, every time.
The first thing you'll want to decide is which kind of formulation you want. Besides the standard liquid and powder versions, you also have the choice of mousse, cream, spray and cream-to-powder. A great way to narrow down your options is to choose based on your skin type. Oily skin should opt for a powder foundation like Physicians Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 Powder Foundation, as they will help mattify shine and won't feel heavy or greasy on the skin. Cream foundations are a smart choice for women with dry skin as they tend to be more moisturizing. Women with mature skin should try cream-to-powder foundations because they help deliver that velvet texture without drying out the skin or enhancing the look of wrinkles. Liquid foundations likeBobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF 15 are extremely versatile and work with all skin types; so when in doubt, choose liquid.
Once you've found your formula, you need to choose a coverage type. According to Quinn, this all boils down to what you need to hide. If you like the no makeup look or simply like the option to layer, go for a sheer foundation like Philosophy The Supernatural Superbeautiful Superhealthy Hybrid Makeup SPF 20. Those who want to hide minor skin discolorations should try medium coverage and anyone who has serious skin issues should use full coverage
Many foundations today also have bonus skin benefits to help make your skin look even more fabulous. From illuminating to hydrating, there's an extra for every need. Two of the more prominent perks in foundations today are anti-aging and long-wearing. Anti-aging foundations like Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser are chock full of age-defying ingredients that help hide and treat the signs of aging. "If you're worried about fine lines and wrinkles, you want a foundation that's targeted towards those areas," says Quinn. Long-wearing foundations like Clarins Everlasting Foundation SPF 15 usually feature ingredients like silicones that help the product adhere and stay in place. "If you're a working woman who's up early and not touching up her makeup all day, you'll definitely want a long-wear foundation," says Quinn.
So the next time you're lost in the foundation aisle, just remember these tips and you'll be sure to find your perfect makeup match.

DAILY TIPS!!!

Our complexion tends to be a different color depending on what time of the year it is. Keeping this in mind your make-up kit should include 2 foundation colors, one for the warm months one for the colder months.

HOT HAIR COLORS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2010

When choosing your color it is important to choose a color palette that matches your skin tone. You don't want it to make you look washed out or too artificial.

1. STRAWBERRY BLONDES & RED
-This is a great color selection if your complexion is light to pale. This will help to make those cheeks look rosy for the spring and summer ahead. Adding natural highlights will give it a more natural appeal.

2. BRUNETTES
-For my brunettes add some zest to your hair by getting caramel or butterscotch highlights to frame your face. This will give you a glow perfect for the upcoming months.

3. BLONDES
-Adding natural highlight and low lights to your blonde locks give that extra POW!!!!! Also mixing your blondes with medium brown is a great look for the upcoming months.

4. COPPER AND AUBURN
-These are great colors that match almost every complexion. Copper and Auburn also work with together adding the opposite color as natural highlights.

DAILY TIP

When doing color make your hair look multi-dimensional by coloring the hair a base color, and then going back in with lighter highlights. This will give your hair a fuller, multi-dimensional look. Example; Base Brown/highlights copper; base: honey blonde/ highlights platinum or light blonde or medium brown.

DAILY TIP

Not everyone can be a blonde or get blonde highlights. Have your stylist do a strand test to see what is the highest level that your hair can achieve. This will keep you from having a tragic hair coloring experience.

TREATING YOUR COLORED TRESSES

TREATMENT OF COLORED HAIR:

1. Getting Bi monthly deep conditioning treatments. These are necessary for keepng the hair healthy

2. As color begins to fade add a clear gloss, it will give additional lift from your color.

2010 ACADEMY AWARD SUPPORTING ACTRESS WINNER!! MONIQUE

As you see this weeks post are dedicated to the Oscars. For the next few days I will be reviewing the looks for all the African American women who have won Academy Awards. This list now includes comedian, talk show hosts and actress Monique.

MONIQUE'S HAIR

Monique wore a well sculpted Chignon with a flower for a hair accessory. This was a well fitting hair style for the occasion.  This look is great for formal and semi formal events. Its simple, easy and elegant.

How To: You can achieve this look by pulling hair back in a very tight, and neat ponytail. Smooth hair down by using wrapping foam, hair gel and spritz. Sit under dryer for ponytail to set and dry. Once dried, add hair extensions to ponytail securing with bobby and hair pins. Spritz and curl the weave with big barrel curling iron. Take large pieces of hair and wrap round like a bow(you can be creative when doing this) There is no set place where the hair has to be placed. Make sure to use enough hair spray to hold hair in place. To top off the look add a hair accessory to the right or left side.

MONIQUE'S MAKE-UP

Monique's face was flawless, using a natural makeup pallet. She had the glow of a winner. Sporting a nude lip with chestnut liner and fabulously shaped eyebrows completed her look.

How To: Apply foundation of choice. Using a bronzer highlight cheekbones, bottom of the face and forehead in order to give even glow. Apply bronzer below cheekbones, then apply blush right above then a small amount of powder highlighter under eyes to top of ear. Blend with blush brush. Outline lips in a chestnut color pencil then apply a coat of a neutral lip color with subtle shimmer and little shine then blend!! This look can go for a formal event as well as a everyday look.

 JENNIFER LOPEZ

Jenny from the Block never fails, from her choice in gown to how she wore her her and flawless makeup she defiantly set the red carpet on fire.  She's a Beautinista!!!!!!

OSCAR MAKEUP 2010

1. VIVID LIPS!!
Vivid Reds and Pink were it this year. Sandra Bullock pulled off a gorgeous Pink with natural makeup, sleek hair and a sophisticated beaded and embroidered gown. Charlize Theron looked smashing with her bright red lips. Personally i love color on lips, when choosing just be careful to pick the right tone for your complexion. The wrong color will wreck your entire ensemble.

2. SOFT PINK LIPS
Rachel McAdams  pulled off a soft, sexy soft pink lip with her look. Adding a soft iridescence pink to her eyes and natural radiant glow to her skin make her look angelic. Soft pinks are very feminine, making your lips look very attractive, great addition to your makeup kit!!

3. Natural Lips!!
Penelope Cruz wore a great natural/nude lip.  With a fashionable bun, and natural eye with heavy liner her natural lip color was the icing on the cake.
